Be a person. Let other people be people too.
Verge is meant to make social media feel more human. That only works if people can disagree, joke, create, debate, and connect without turning the platform into a free-for-all for abuse or exploitation.
1. No credible threats or targeted violence
Do not make credible threats, encourage violence against a person or group, share content intended to coordinate real-world harm, or celebrate serious violence in a way that creates a meaningful safety risk.
2. No sexual exploitation or abuse
Content involving child sexual exploitation, non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual extortion, trafficking, or sexual abuse is prohibited. Verge may preserve and report information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people from harm.
3. No targeted harassment campaigns
Disagreement is allowed. Criticism is allowed. Being annoying is not automatically a policy violation. Coordinated harassment, repeated targeted abuse, doxxing, stalking behavior, or directing an audience to overwhelm a person may result in enforcement.
4. Protect private information
Do not post private personal information such as home addresses, private phone numbers, private financial information, account credentials, or other sensitive identifying information without permission when doing so could create a risk of harm.
5. No deceptive impersonation
Parody, commentary, and fan accounts can exist when they are clearly presented that way. Accounts may not impersonate another person or organization in a deceptive way that is intended to mislead, defraud, or cause harm.
6. No spam, scams, or manipulation
Do not use Verge for phishing, fraud, repetitive spam, fake engagement schemes, malicious links, account theft, or coordinated manipulation of platform features.
7. Respect intellectual property
Post content you created, have permission to use, or are otherwise legally allowed to share. This applies to music, sound recordings, video clips, artwork, photography, writing, and other protected material.
Uploading a song because the app lets you upload it does not give you permission to use that song. Verge may remove content after a credible copyright complaint, and repeated or serious infringement may lead to account restrictions, suspension, or permanent removal.
8. Adult and graphic content may be limited
Verge may restrict or remove explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or other material that creates safety, legal, or app-store compliance concerns. Context matters, including whether content is educational, documentary, artistic, or newsworthy.
9. Enforcement should make sense
Verge may consider context, severity, repetition, intent, safety risk, account history, and attempts to evade enforcement. Actions can include warnings, content removal, reduced access to features, temporary suspension, or permanent account removal.
10. Reports are not automatic convictions
A report tells Verge that something should be reviewed. It does not automatically mean the reported person violated a rule. Bad-faith mass reporting or abuse of reporting tools may itself lead to action.
11. Appeals and questions
When an appeal process is available, users may ask for an enforcement decision to be reviewed. Questions about moderation can be sent to hello.vergesocial@proton.me.
